After a long wait, Netflix finally gives a glimpse of Squid Game Season 2 when it drops its slate of new TV shows and movies in 2024. The teaser shows Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) back at the airport as he decides not to catch his flight, turn back, and look for the Front Man again. By the looks of it, the game is not yet over, and Gi-hun is ready to take vengeance after playing the cruel games.

You can see the preview below:

The Squid Game Season 2 teaser starts with the show’s familiar sound as Gi-hun talks to the Front Man on the phone, picking up where the first season finale left off. “You’ll regret your decision,” the Maske Men leader warns. But Gi-hun doesn’t mind and even threatens to find the arena master, no matter what it takes.

Alternatively, the streamer has also released the preview stills for the second season, showing new and familiar faces as another set of games is about to begin. A new look at Lee Byung-hun is revealed as he reprises his role as the Front Man, holding his iconic black mask. It also shows the return of Gong Yoo as The Salesman having a chat with Gi-hun while holding a gun. A woman looking at the life-changing card also appears, and it seems like she will be a new player in the deadly children’s games. And for the last still, Gi-hun seems to be back at the arena as he’s looking at a masked man in front of him.

What to Expect from Squid Game Season 2

Squid Game Season 2 will continue where the first season left off. Gi-hun made a serious decision not to follow his daughter to the U.S. and find the Front Man to take down everyone behind the titular Squid Game.

Talking about the new season, the series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022 that it wouldn’t be a fan service. Despite the many reactions the series received from the first season, he didn’t want to make the second iteration a “response to those reactions.” Instead, he would focus on Gi-hun’s next move as he decided not to board the plane and go to the U.S. to see his daughter.

“There will naturally be a flow of events that will lead all the way to the end of the season,” he said.

Dong-hyuk was careful not to share any details about the series, but he teased that Squid Game Season 2 would be about the new Gi-hun. After becoming a new person after winning the deadly game, fans are about to see how things will unfold for him after experiencing major change.
