It has been more than a year since Netflix announced the coming of Squid Game Season 2. But as the streamer and the series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk have remained mum about it, keeping the new season’s details under wraps, many are looking for the latest updates. Thankfully, its new star, Jo Yu-ri, has shared how she made it to be part of the breakout show.

It was in September 2021 when the first season of Squid Game dropped on Netflix and became a worldwide hit. The show managed to transcend the language barriers and even turned out to be the streaming giant’s most-watched series, thanks to its gripping and captivating story. Now, all eyes are on Squid Game Season 2.

In an interview on the MBC FM4U radio show via Koreaboo, former IZ*ONE member and now soloist Jo Yu-ri revealed how she reacted when she learned she was cast in Squid Game Season 2. “When I received confirmation that I was cast, I was so happy,” she said.

The 21-year-old revealed she auditioned for a long while for this series. However, she could no longer remember what happened after receiving a confirmation that she would be playing a role in the show, as her excitement suddenly went through the roof.

“It was like that moment was erased from my mind,” she continued. Despite that, Yuri could never deny that she was on cloud nine at that moment, making it feel like she was in a dream.
