Spy x Family season 2 is one of 2023’s biggest anime franchises to make a return after the first season became one of the biggest anime adaptations in 2022. While the anime adaptation has been well-received by fans, there are some smaller details where the fans didn’t like the anime’s approach over the manga.

Censorship and minor changes are common practices when creating animes or adapting them from mangas. Animators will often edit out or censor some details from a manga depending on how different countries allow different types of content to be published. A good example of this is the Dragon Ball Z series, which changed a lot of details when the anime was moved from Japan to North America.

Loid Forger’s Scene At The Pool Censored

The biggest and most noticeable change in Spy x Family Season 2 is Loid’s pool scene, which received a lot of fan criticism because of how it was changed in the anime as compared to the Spy x Family manga. During a scene of the Forger clan at the swimming pool, Loid Forger can be seen standing shirtless in the manga.

This was changed in the anime, as the animators decided to put a shirt on the character. This is surprising since the scene doesn’t include violence or anything of the sort. While this edit may seem unnecessary, the anime studio behind it hasn’t released any official statement regarding it.

During the start of this year, One Piece director Steven Maeda shared in an interview with Comicbook.com that, if given the chance, he would be thrilled to make a Spy x Family live-action adaptation in the future. He said:

"I love Spy Family so much. It's just wonderful. I think there are so many wonderful stories. It just has been, I think, difficult getting the crossover... [Anime] really is such wonderful source material. There are so many great manga and anime titles out there that tell these wonderful stories and they just haven't been tapped yet. And so not every underlying piece of material needs a live action. But boy, it would be amazing to see some of them."

What’s Spy x Family Season 2 About?

Spy x Family Season 1 covered nearly 37 chapters or six volumes of the manga, so Season 2 might cover the same or more volumes. Currently, there are about five volumes filled to the brim with stories that haven’t been adapted yet, which is quite a lot for one more season of Spy x Family, consisting of 25 episodes.

Considering that the next five volumes have already been released, there are plenty of spoilers for viewers who might be curious about the anime’s story. So far, three episodes have been released for Spy x Family Season 2, with more set to be released on a weekly basis.
