What to Expect from Solo Leveling Episode 1

Solo Leveling Episode 1 will introduce the series to anime fans. It will help fans get familiar with its theme, starting with its passages called “gates,” which connect the world to another dimension. These gates will appear in the premiere episode. It will also introduce the hunters to the viewers; they’re the people who fight the monsters on the other side of the gates.

The hunters are ranked according to their magical power, and the protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, appears to have the weakest ability with the lowest E-class classification. Despite that, Jinwoo volunteers to be in the dungeon, where another entrance will be revealed after being cleared. Check out the Solo Leveling Episode 1 preview.

You can check the synopsis below:

Ten years ago. Passages called "gates" that connect another dimension and this world have appeared, and people who fight the monsters lurking on the other side of the gates are called "hunters." Hunters are ranked according to the amount of magical power they have when awakened, and Shun Mizushino was said to be the weakest among the lowest E-class. One day, Shun participated in a dungeon. What is Solo Leveling about?

Solo Leveling is a South Korean novel by Chugong. It started its serialization on KakaoPage in July 2016 and was later published in full by D&C Media under their Papyrus label in November 2016. Yen Press licensed the novel in English.

It was then adapted into a webtoon with illustrations by Jang Sung-rak, with the first season released in March 2018 and the second season in August 2020. It ended in December 2021 with 179 chapters. Its chapters have been collected in seven volumes as of February 2023, published by D&C Media, and licensed in English by Yen Press.

In addition, a role-playing video game is now in the works at Netmarble, while an anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures will soon premiere. A K-drama adaptation is also in development, while the spinoff webtoon, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, is scheduled for release in 2024.

You can read the synopsis below:

In a world where hunters — human warriors who possess supernatural abilities — must battle deadly monsters to protect mankind from certain annihilation, a notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jinwoo finds himself in a seemingly endless struggle for survival. One day, after narrowly surviving an overwhelmingly powerful double dungeon that nearly wipes out his entire party, a mysterious program called the System chooses him as its sole player and in turn, gives him the extremely rare ability to level up in strength and turn anyone he kills into a loyal minion called a shadow. Jinwoo then sets out on a journey as he fights against all kinds of enemies, both man and monster, to discover the secrets of the dungeons and the true source of his powers.
