Fans missed seeing Sung Jinwoo and his fight to become the best hunter last week after the anime took a break and released an episode recap instead. However, the series’ animation producer, Atsushi Kaneko, promises the action will continue in the upcoming Episode 8, This is Frustrating, and beyond. With only five episodes left, the animator teases what’s to come and hints at more action-packed scenes for Jinwoo.
In an interview with Animate Times (as translated by Comicbook), Kaneko shared the highlights and behind-the-scenes stories of each of the seven episodes of Solo Leveling. The Japanese artist mostly praised the anime’s director, Yoshihiro Kanno, and his fellow animators for perfectly depicting Jinwoo’s story on the small screen with high-quality animation and interesting scenes.
But while talking about their work for the series, he was asked to give a few highlights from Solo Leveling Episode 8 onwards. As expected, Kaneko teased that there would be a lot of exciting action scenes as fans continuously see Jinwoo’s growth as he becomes humanity’s greatest hunter. However, aside from that, Jinwoo will have to face a few encounters, farewells, and powerful enemies.

Why is Solo Leveling Episode 8 delayed?
Things are getting pretty intense in Solo Leveling as Jinwoo’s power is gradually revealed. After seeing his incredible skills in Episode 7, Let’s See How Far Can I Go, Jinwoo received an unexpected offer from Yoo Jinhoo. His life is also in danger after Hwang Dongsoo threatens to hunt him following his brother, Hwang Dongsuk’s death. But as many are now looking forward to seeing what’s next to his journey, the anime announced the release of Solo Leveling Episode 8 would be delayed.
The anime went on a break and released an episode recap that featured a look back at Episodes 1-7 with new narration. After releasing over half of its 12 episodes, it quickly reviewed Jinwoo’s journey from being an infamously weak E-Rank hunter to starting his training to become one of the strongest hunters.
What is Solo Leveling about?
Solo Leveling follows the story of Sung Jinwoo, who has become famous for being a weak hunter in a world full of hunters and human warriors with great supernatural abilities. The hunters are tasked to protect the world from destruction amid the threat of the gate that connects the world to another dimension. However, his life takes a major turn after surviving the threat of a mysterious double dungeon and being chosen as the System’s sole player. As he undergoes serious training, Jinwoo is now on his way to becoming the most powerful hunter.
You can read the synopsis below:
The anime is based on the South Korean web novel of the same title by Chugong. It started its serialization in KakaoPage in July 2016 and was later published by D&C Media under its Papyrus label in November 2017. Yen Press licensed it in English. It was then adapted into a webtoon with illustrations by Jang Sung-rak (Dubu) and published in March 2019. Its second season was released in August 2020 and ended in December 2021, collecting nine volumes also published by D&C Media. Yen Press also licensed the webtoon in English.
In addition, A-1 Pictures adapted it into anime, premiering in January 2024 and releasing seven episodes and a recap episode so far. A K-drama and a role-playing video game by Netmarble are now in the works, while a spin-off, titled Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, is set to be released in 2024. The anime streams on Crunchyroll.
Solo Leveling Episode 8 is scheduled for release on Saturday, March 2. With Kaneko’s tease and how things are going in the series, it looks like the final episodes will not be short in action, and there’s still a lot to be seen as Jinwoo continues his journey.
