After taking on the big screen, fans are about to see the anime adaptation of Ramona and Scott’s story in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off on Netflix. But knowing fans have already seen their tale in the cult classic 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, executive producer BenDavid Grabinski shared they made a change to Ramona’s character, and it would be the most appropriate twist ever.
Based on Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novels of the same name, the series has seen several iterations. Aside from a film adaptation, it was also adapted into a video game by Ubisoft. And now, its anime version is about to come.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will tell the familiar story of Ramona and Scott. It will even feature the voices of the movie’s original cast members, reprising their roles in the series. But despite the familiarity, there will be a few changes fans are about to see, especially with Ramona.
This time, Ramona will be working for a new company. Hence, she will no longer be delivering for Amazon, just like what she did in the novel and film. So, what does she do now?

What is Ramona’s new work in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grabinski revealed there would be a potential legal problem if they featured Ramona still working for Amazon in the anime. So, he and O’Malley devised a new idea, making her deliver Netflix DVDs instead.
“Bryan and I and were writing one day thinking, they're never going to let us have her deliver packages for Amazon. Then one of us thought of this idea,” Grabinski said.
They then pitched their proposal to Netflix, but someone told them they weren’t sure if they could clear it through legal. As he couldn’t believe what he had just heard, Grabinski trusted that the streamer could do something about it.
“I was like, 'Are you kidding me? You cannot do this joke that she delivers DVDs for Netflix? Come on, you're Netflix! Figure it out!'” he continued.

Will the producers change the story of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off?
Grabinski and O’Malley’s goal is to capture the spirit of the franchise’s movie version while exploring a new territory. So, they shake up Scott Pilgrim a bit.
The creator of the novel series has written this story almost 20 years ago, so he knows he can’t go back and rewrite it “word for word.” As he has to tell Scott’s tale in a world where his account is already told and people know it, O’Malley has to change how it goes.
Grabinski also wants to make it to the point that their new show can surpass all the viewers' expectations. However, the two remain mum about the changes they have made in the series, and fans will only know of those when Scott Pilgrim Takes Off releases on November 17 on Netflix.
With this promising change, fans may be more interested in seeing Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Hopefully, this one will deliver, especially with the hilarious twist they have made to Ramona.
