What is Rurouni Kenshin about?

Rurouni Kenshin follows Himura Kenshin, a pacifist in the middle of the Meiji era in Japan, who visits Tokyo helping the people in need through his swordsmanship. Having used the same skills during the Bakumatsu, he bagged from Ishin Shishi the title of being the Hitokiri Battōsai. The owner of the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu dojo, Kamiya Kaoru, asked Kenshin to help her with the defense of the place because allegedly, there is a criminal who uses Kenshin's title in the area.

The anime series was first released in 1996 and ended in 1998 with Studio Gallop animating the first half and Studio Deen doing the later parts. Rurouni Kenshin was also called as Samurai X and was known as one of the 100 most-watched series in Japan repeatedly.
