Pokémon UNITE is coming to an end, with The Pokémon Company and developer TiMi Studio Group announcing that the free-to-play MOBA will shut down after more than five years of service. Service for both the Nintendo Switch version and the mobile version will end on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC.

The companies announced the end of service on the game's official website, thanking the players who have been there since the Nintendo Switch version launched on July 21, 2021. "We offer our sincerest gratitude to the many Trainers who have played since service started," the announcement said.

The shutdown schedule starts today, October 27, with Aeos gem sales suspended as of 05:00 UTC. Players can still spend any Aeos gems they already hold until service ends, but no new gems can be bought from today onward.

New UNITE Club memberships and automatic membership renewals were suspended at the same time today. Current members keep their membership benefits and services until the end of their current membership period.

A send-off is planned before the servers close, with an update on Thursday, November 12, 2026, adding a special event and a new "library" feature. During the event, players will be able to obtain items from across the game's history, including Unite licenses and Holowear that have appeared in the game up to now.

The library feature is the one piece of the game built to outlive the shutdown, letting players view certain records and in-game content even after service ends. Players have to complete the required library data download before March 23, 2027, to use it, since anyone who skips the download will not be able to access the feature afterward.

Competitive play will see the game out, as the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will still be held as previously announced. Its qualifier tournaments start on Saturday, December 5, 2026.

Pokémon UNITE first launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, followed by iOS and Android on September 22, 2021, sending two teams of five Pokémon into timed battles on Aeos Island. Its roster grew steadily across its run, passing 60 playable Pokémon as TiMi kept adding Unite licenses, Holowear and ranked seasons year after year.

Once service ends on March 23, 2027, players will no longer be able to log in or take part in battles, and support for the game closes at the same time. The Pokémon UNITE Game Content Guidelines for Online Platforms will also no longer be published or maintained after that date, ending official support for the use of the game's video and images.
