This is not a drill; Pokémon will finally have a live-action drama series 27 years after the franchise began. TV Tokyo and The Pokémon Company have joined forces to bring a new show titled Put Adventure in Your Pocket that will see the cute pocket monsters in the real world. And to give fans a glimpse of what they’re about to see, the series has dropped its official trailer.

From a pair of role-playing games by Game Freak, Pokémon has become a huge media franchise. It was first released on Game Boy in February 1996, becoming a sleeper hit that was adapted into a manga, a trading card game, an anime, and numerous anime films. It has also become a fixture in popular culture. And today, a live-action drama is about to be released.

The trailer introduces the series’ lead, Madoka, who’s enjoying playing her Game Boy. After moving to a new place, she receives a package that contains the console and a Pokémon game cartridge. As she navigates her new life as a working girl, she learns the game has a connection to her real life.

What is Pokémon live-action drama about?

The Pokémon live-action drama Put Adventure in Your Pocket tells the story of Madoka, who moves to Tokyo to follow her dreams. However, things will change when she starts playing Pokémon again after 20 years. Growing up, Pokémon had a big impact on the protagonist’s life. She used to watch Pokémon and play Pocket Monster Red with her siblings.

However, after graduating from a local university, she stopped doing things she used to do and started working at a fish cake company. From there, she moved to Tokyo to work in a small advertising agency to be the creator she had dreamed of since she was young.

Madoka learns that reality is far from fantasy as she works on a big presentation that holds the company’s future. Thankfully, her mom sends her a package containing her old Game Boy Pocket and the Pocket Monsters Red she used to play. As she turns on her console, a new adventure begins.
