It has also become a fixture in popular culture. And today, a live-action drama is about to be released.
The trailer introduces the series’ lead, Madoka, who’s enjoying playing her Game Boy. After moving to a new place, she receives a package that contains the console and a Pokémon game cartridge. As she navigates her new life as a working girl, she learns the game has a connection to her real life.

What is Pokémon live-action drama about?
The Pokémon live-action drama Put Adventure in Your Pocket tells the story of Madoka, who moves to Tokyo to follow her dreams. However, things will change when she starts playing Pokémon again after 20 years. Growing up, Pokémon had a big impact on the protagonist’s life. She used to watch Pokémon and play Pocket Monster Red with her siblings.
However, after graduating from a local university, she stopped doing things she used to do and started working at a fish cake company. From there, she moved to Tokyo to work in a small advertising agency to be the creator she had dreamed of since she was young.
Madoka learns that reality is far from fantasy as she works on a big presentation that holds the company’s future. Thankfully, her mom sends her a package containing her old Game Boy Pocket and the Pocket Monsters Red she used to play. As she turns on her console, a new adventure begins.
Put Adventure in Your Pocket will be released on October 19 at 11:30 PM JST on TV Tokyo. So far, there are no words if it will have an international release. But knowing Pokémon is loved all over the world, many are looking forward to this.
