The latest PlayStation 5 Pro report has been making rounds on the internet with some interesting details on the rumored PS machine, including hints on when Sony might launch it. Sony hasn’t officially mentioned anything about the latest PS5 console that might come in the style of the PS4 Pro. However, based on plenty of leaks and rumors, it makes sense that PlayStation fans expect one.
Moreover, as per the latest rumor, the console might just be launching in September 2024. This rumor comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grub, a popular and reputable industry insider who is usually pretty reliable when it comes to such stuff. Unfortunately, Grubb hasn’t fully committed to the September 2024 release window but claims that it’s “probably” the window.
This means that he might have referred to the fact that these plans might change over time or a possible uncertainty in the claim. What seems quite strange is that Grubb states that the specs haven’t been finalized yet, which seems pretty odd if the console is less than a year away since production should kick off soon. Before hinting what the console might feature, Grubb said:
For people who aren’t quite familiar with DLSS, also known as Deep Learning Super Sampling, it’s a feature that’s currently only under the possession of Nvidia graphics card. If the PlayStation 5 Pro utilizes this technology, then it’ll provide the console with a substantial upgrade as compared to the original PS5 and the current line of Xbox consoles.
With that said, make sure to take these details and the release date with a grain of salt. While Grubb is quite reliable, he has been off the market countless times, one of the reasons of which is that these kinds of things are subject to change.
How much might the rumored PS5 Pro cost?
Many reported suggest that the PlayStation 5 Pro is going to a lot more expensive as compared to the older PS5. However, it’s worth noting that the PlayStation Pro initially came out in 2016 at the price of $399, which makes it as expensive as the PlayStation 4 upon release in 2013. This means that the new rumored console might just cost $499, almost the same price as the PlayStation 5 Disc Edition launched in 2020.
Nevertheless, the slim variants have also been released for the same price. With talks of the PlayStation 5 Pro already in circulation, Sony has the option to either release a stronger device or offer discounts on their slimline consoles. But first, we hope they confirm the console soon!
