The Phoenix Force finally has a date with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Arc System Works has released the first full gameplay trailer for Phoenix Cyclops, the debut DLC fighter for the 4v4 tag fighter — and with it comes the detail fans have been waiting on for months: an actual release date.
The trailer premiered Wednesday morning on the official MARVEL Tokon YouTube channel, giving players their first real look at the fire-infused Scott Summers in action. Until now, the character had only appeared in a brief teaser and a handful of screenshots shared through the game's Discord server.
The headline news: Phoenix Cyclops joins Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on November 2. The date replaces the vague fall 2026 window the character has carried since his reveal, and makes him the first of four Year 1 DLC fighters to land in the game.
As expected, this is no ordinary Cyclops. The trailer shows him pairing his signature optic blasts with the cosmic flames of the Phoenix, tearing through opponents with fire-charged strikes. His core mechanic revolves around Solar Shards: building them up lets him tap deeper into the Phoenix's power, but that strength comes with a catch.

The developers frame it as a deliberate risk-and-reward loop. Players will have to balance extraordinary strength against what the game calls a path to destruction — pushing too far into the Phoenix's power could cost as much as it gives. It is a fitting design for a character whose whole identity is built on wielding a cosmic force that keeps threatening to consume him.
Phoenix Cyclops draws inspiration from his Phoenix Five incarnation, the version of Scott Summers who bonded with a fragment of the Phoenix Force during Marvel's Avengers vs. X-Men event. The look carries over too: a bold redesigned suit, flame effects woven into his attacks, and a presence that sets him well apart from the base roster's X-Men lineup.
The character was first announced during the game's San Diego Comic-Con panel back in July, where Arc System Works confirmed he would headline the Year 1 Character and Stage Pass. Ray Chase, who voices Cyclops in X-Men '97, was attached to the role from that first reveal.
His arrival lands a few months into the game's post-launch life. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, launched August 6 for PlayStation 5 and PC, bringing anime-styled 4v4 tag-team fighting to the Marvel universe with a 20-character launch roster.
Three more Year 1 fighters and a new stage are still to come, with none of the remaining characters announced yet. For now, the Phoenix gets the spotlight — and on November 2, players get to find out exactly how much of its power they can handle.
