The fan-favorite Pogues are about to return to action and new adventures in Outer Banks Season 4. Filming for the upcoming season has finally wrapped up after a major delay due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. With that being said, the waiting game will soon end, as new episodes are expected to be released on Netflix later this year.

The filming for Outer Banks Season 4 officially ends on June 12, 2024, with the cast members Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Rudy Pankow, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, and Carlacia Grant announcing the good news on Instagram. In a clip, Stokes described the experience as a “crazy, crazy journey” and was thankful it was already done. Bailey seemed to drop a major spoiler when she asked Stokes if he told the viewers they went to an unmentioned place, but Stokes cleared they weren’t allowed to say anything that would spoil the show.

Stokes tried to change the topic by showing Daviss working on the post-production, editing their scenes on his computer, and getting all the sound effects, VFX, slides, wipes, and zooms. “All that ready to go,” he teased. Pankow then chimed in, asking Daviss if he had included the beach scene in super slow-mo, which the latter confirmed he did so. The camera shifted to Grant, who was recording the OBX sound effects while Cline held the mic for her. As the cast appeared in one frame, Stokes said they were all stoked about the new season.

“The pogues have wrapped filming on OBX season 4!!!” the caption reads.

When will Outer Banks Season 4 be released?

Netflix has yet to reveal when Outer Banks Season 4 will be released, but the streamer’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, said during the company’s first-quarter earnings call that the new season would be one of its big releases this year. He mentioned Outer Banks between The Night Agent and Squid Game. So, if he listed the titles chronologically, it is highly likely that Outer Banks Season 4 will be out between September and November before Squid Game Season 2 in December.

“And, they'll even be getting a longer look at what's coming up in the second half of the year, which is, again, returning seasons of Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, The Night Agent, Outer Banks, and Squid Game, our big one,” he said.

It’s good to note that Cobra Kai Season 6 will release its first part on July 18, followed by Emily in Paris Season 4 on August 12. Though it remains to be seen when The Night Agent Season 2 will hit the streamer, it will also surely come out this year, around September or October.

What is Outer Banks Season 4 about?

Outer Banks Season 4 will begin the hunt for Blackbeard's gold. The third season ended with a man approaching the Pogues with a proposition. This guy holds a map from 1718 that contains information about Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, an English pirate who sailed on OBX. It’s strongly believed that he had buried treasure there, and the Pogues will once again start a hunt for more gold. Whatever the case, co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke teased there would be “more twists and turns” in the upcoming season.

“Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular. The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime, and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into season four of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast, and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen,” they said at a Poguelandia fan event in Huntington Beach, CA, after the series was renewed for a fourth season in February 2023.
