One Piece Fans Demand Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kureha in Season 2

Jamie Lee Curtis has been actively campaigning for the role of Chopper's adoptive mother in One Piece!

It's officially happening! Netflix has given One Piece Season 2 the greenlight and people are understandably hyped up for the next chapter of the Straw Hats' story. After all, it means we'll finally get to see Tony Tony Chopper in live-action. In addition to that, fans are hoping that his adoptive mother Dr. Kureha will be played by none other than the screen legend Jamie Lee Curtis herself!

Netflix officially announced the renewal of the live-action One Piece series through an awesome video featuring mangaka Eiichiro Oda and his Den Den Mushi. In his announcement, Oda teased the arrival of the Straw Hats' resident doctor by quickly sketching Chopper.

The live-action debut of Chopper is exciting enough on its own but it also had fans pushing for the casting of Dr. Kureha. As expected, people are now calling on Netflix to cast Halloween scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis for the role.

This isn't a huge surprise. After all, Curtis had previously expressed her love for Chopper and One Piece and even went out of her way to declare that she wants to be cast as Kureha. With that in mind, Netflix's only move is to give the Everything Everywhere All at Once star a call and give her the coveted role.

Who is Dr. Kureha in One Piece?

Dr. Kureha is an elderly physician practicing on Drum Island although certain locals call her a witch. She serves as the mentor and adoptive mother of Tony Tony Chopper, whom she adopted after the demise of Hiriluk. Additionally, she holds the esteemed position of leading the Isshi-100. Throughout the Drum Island Arc, Dr. Kureha aligns herself as an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates, solidifying her significance in the storyline as she contributes her medical skills and guidance to their cause.

For now, the casting of Kureha has not yet been announced. However, we wouldn't be surprised if Curtis is given the role. With that in mind, we're waiting for an official announcement from the streaming service.
