One Piece Day 2023 has officially begun, from July 21-22, and it unveils Luffy’s much-awaited Gear Fifth look in a new float. It has been a long question as to when fans will finally see the Straw Hat Pirates captain’s ultimate form in the anime series. By the looks of it, the long wait will soon be over.
One Piece Day 2023 celebrates everything about the Straw Hat Pirates and the world of the Grand Line. And compared to previous years’ events, this one is much bigger, with English fans now able to watch this special celebration with English subtitles.
Luffy’s Gear Fifth Float at One Piece Day 2023
Twitter user Arthur – Library of Ohara, who’s known for being a One Piece enthusiast, shared a glimpse of Luffy’s Gear Fifth float from One Piece Day 2023. Compared to Goku and his fellow Saiyans, whose hair color changes into blond, red, or blue, Luffy turns white, from his hair to his eyebrows to his clothes, when he has reached his full potential.
This makes the aspiring Pirate King looks like a living cartoon, which fans have been waiting to see in the One Piece anime series. Sure, the manga, created by Eiichiro Oda, has given a glimpse of the infamous Gear Fifth, but it’s yet to be seen on TV. However, it may finally happen with the latest turn of events of Luffy’s fight against Kaido in the War for Wano.
Luffy’s Gear Fifth Debut in One Piece Anime Series
The War for Wano is still ongoing in the One Piece anime series, and it’s finally setting up the stage for Luffy’s much-awaited Gear Fifth debut on TV. This ultimate transformation first debuted in Chapter 1044 of the manga and is believed to be seen in the upcoming Episode 1071.
Known One Piece leaker @OP_SPOILERS2021 claimed in a now-deleted tweet (via Spiel Times) that Luffy’s Gear Fifth will finally make a debut in Episode 1071 and will continuously be seen until Episode 1072. To add more fuel to the fire, Arthur revealed that Episode 1071 would adapt the manga’s Chapter 1044, where Luffy’s Fifth Gear was first seen.
So, will it happen? Considering two leakers have made the claim, it may not be far from happening. However, fans should take this assumption with a grain of salt as nothing is officially confirmed until Toei Animation, the anime’s studio, proves the claim.
So, fans must watch and see One Piece Episodes 1071 and 1072 when they drop on August 6 and 13, respectively. But they must first see One Piece Episode 1070 when it releases on July 30.
