Netflix has released an exciting new trailer for this year's Geeked Week, the ultimate virtual fan event with exclusive news, sneak peeks, and first looks from the streamer's biggest genre movies series, and games from November 6 to 12.
The titles highlighted in the streamer's press release include 3 Body Problem, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Blue Eye Samurai, The Brothers Sun, Damsel, Devil May Cry, Leave The World Behind, One Piece live-action, Rebel Moon, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Squid Game: The Challenge, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, The Umbrella Academy, Ultraman Rising, and more. One of the most interesting bits in the Geeked Week '23 trailer is the first footage of the upcoming live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series.
The split-second preview of the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series can be seen at the 0:54 mark of the Geeked Week '23 trailer, and it gives us a glimpse of the shonen's protagonist, Yusuke Urameshi (played by Takumi Kitamura). This suggests that Netflix will launch the first trailer for the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of Yoshihiro Togashi's popular supernatural manga series at the virtual event.
Here's a screenshot of Yusuke with his iconic green school uniform:

It looks like this scene adapts the first chapter of Togashi's manga series. For those unfamiliar, the series begins with Yusuke getting hit by a car and killed in an attempt to save a young boy by pushing him out of the way, but his death is just the beginning of his supernatural adventures as his ghost will discover the Spirit World.
Live-Action Yu Yu Hakusho Release Date
Last week, Netflix released a teaser announcing the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho's release date: December 14, 2023.
The episode count of the show's first season hasn't been confirmed yet, but it'll likely be around 8 to 10. Season 1 of the live-action One Piece series only consisted of 8 episodes, so we shouldn't be surprised if Yu Yu Hakusho has the same amount, which is not enough to cover the entirety of the fan-favorite Dark Tournament Arc, so it's likely that we wont' see that happen until Season 2.
If Netflix releases the first trailer for the live-action Yu Yu Hakusho series on Geeked Week '23, expect to see the rest of the Yusuke's team to show up, including Kazuma Kuwabara (Shuhei Uesugi), Hiei (Kanata Hongo), and Kurama (Jun Shison). Hopefully, we'll also catch a glimpse of the familiar villains, but I doubt that we will see Toguro appear.
