In about a week, fans will finally see Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. That said, the streamer is now hard at work on hyping up its upcoming series with several promotional stints here and there. So, the service has dropped another new teaser, showing King Bumi introducing Aang and later taking him on in a great battle.

You can see the preview below:

The new Avatar: The Last Airbender teaser starts with opening the gates of the four nations. It sees Aang enjoying flying in the sky as King Bumi introduces him as the master of all four elements and the savior of the world. From there, a fight between the two begins, as the King of Omashu attacks Aang with a huge rock that the latter effortlessly dodges.

King Bumi unleashes his great strength as he kicks another boulder in Aang’s way. However, the scene shifts to Zuko and Uncle Iroh, with the latter hitting two boulders thrown at them by manipulating fire. Zuko then hits Sokka with his power, which the Water Tribe warrior avoids. Sokka is then seen jumping off a cart with his sister, Katara. King Bumi takes the scene again, telling Aang he must learn what it means to be the Avatar.

Who plays King Bumi in Avatar: The Last Airbender?

King Bumi is the wild-eyed, eccentric, elderly King of Omashu. Before the Hundred Year War begins, he has formed a close friendship with Aang and has remained the only known friend from the protagonist’s childhood who’s still alive by 100 AG. But despite his frail appearance, he possesses great strength as an Earthbending master. He even claims to be “the most powerful Earthbender” one will see.

The role is played by the actor, rapper, and singer Utkarsh Ambudkar, also known by his stage name UTK the INC. The 40-year-old is no stranger to a Netflix series, appearing on the comedy-drama Never Have I Ever. He’s also known for his roles in Pitch Perfect, Game Over, Man!, Blindspotting, Tick, Tick… Boom!, and World’s Best, among others.

What is Avatar: The Last Airbender about?

Avatar: The Last Airbender tells the story of Aang, discovered frozen in a block of ice. As the last and living Avatar and Airbender, he gets freed to face the Fire Nation amid its threat to conquer the world. But before he can go head-to-head against Fire Lord Ozai and the rest of his people, he has to master all four elements: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. And though he’s afraid to shoulder this great responsibility, he gets the help of the sibling duo, Sokka and Katara.

You can read the synopsis below:

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope. But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang, a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar. Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender to Bring the Fire Nation to the Forefront

Netflix will have a different approach to its live-action adaptation of Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko’s Avatar: The Last Airbender. As this may differ from what fans are used to seeing in the original Nickelodeon animated series, it’s a must-see what changes the streaming giant has made. It’s also worth seeing if this can surpass the success of the One Piece live-action series.
