Netflix has finally lifted the veil on the highly anticipated second season of Wednesday, the blockbuster series centered on the iconic Addams Family character. On Wednesday, April 23, the streaming giant released a chilling teaser trailer and announced a two-part release strategy, with Part 1 premiering on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 following on September 3, 2025.

The teaser trailer, brimming with the show’s signature gothic flair, offers a glimpse into Wednesday Addams’ return to Nevermore Academy. Jenna Ortega reprises her role as the sharp-witted, macabre-loving teen, who is seen navigating airport security with an arsenal of weapons—brass knuckles, pepper spray, knives, nunchucks, a taser, and a spiked ball flail—prompting a humorous exchange with a TSA agent. The trailer teases a darker, more twisted narrative, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams, promising a season “bigger and more twisted than you can ever imagine.”

Wednesday Season 2 picks up after the events of the first season, which captivated audiences in November 2022, amassing 341.23 million hours viewed in its debut week and surpassing Stranger Things as Netflix’s most-watched English-language series at the time. This season, Wednesday returns to Nevermore alongside her brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), now a student at the academy. The storyline promises new mysteries, supernatural intrigue, and the unraveling of Wednesday’s psychic abilities, with a fresh dose of murder and mayhem.

The cast expands with exciting additions, including Joanna Lumley as Wednesday’s grandmother, Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, and Frances O’Connor. Notably, Christopher Lloyd, who played Uncle Fester in the 1990s Addams Family films, joins as a new character, adding a nostalgic nod for fans. Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen, also makes a return, as seen in the trailer.

Filming for the season took place in Ireland from May to November 2024, with Jenna Ortega teasing an “action-packed” experience laced with horror references, including an episode inspired by slasher films. The show’s critical and commercial success—viewed by 182 million households in its first season—positions it as a strong contender for Emmy consideration in 2026.
