Netflix's 'The Frog' Confirmed to Star EXO's Chanyeol Alongside Go Min Si and Yoon Kye-sang

Chanyeol from EXO dramatically returns to acting via The Frog, a gripping Netflix series directed by Mo Wan Il, set for a Q3 2024 release.

Chanyeol, a K-pop idol and member of the famed Korean boy group EXO, is set to star in The Frog, a highly anticipated upcoming K-drama on Netflix. The idol's management company, SM Entertainment, announced the news on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

The agency issued a statement saying, "It is true that Chanyeol will star in the Netflix series The Frog." EXO member Chanyeol will play a mysterious character who is important to the plot, as per Soompi.

The Frog is a mystery thriller that follows two pension owners who live in opposite historical periods: Gu Sang Jun (Yoon Kye-sang), who manages a hotel in the past, and Jeon Yeong Ha (Kim Yun-seok), who runs a pension in the present. When similar circumstances occur to both men, they make very different conclusions.

The drama also features Go Min-si and Lee Jung-eun. The rest of the cast members are Ha Yoon-kyung as Yoon Bo Min (Young), Park Ji-hwan as Jong Du, and Ryu Hyun-kyung as Seo Eun-kyung.

Mo Wan II will direct The Frog. He previously directed The World of the Married, the most successful cable K-dramas in history. Studio Flow and Studio LuluLaLa are the production firms behind the imminent Netflix series.

The filming for The Frog began in early April 2023 until mid-September 2023, The Economic Times reported. The series has been in postproduction for several months. The Frog will have eight episodes in total, with the run times of each episode yet to be revealed.
