Netflix’s One Piece has proven its success from an early renewal to topping the streamer’s TV list globally. And to seal the series of triumphs it experiences, it gets a recommendation from Whoopi Goldberg herself. The host doesn’t just recommend the series on The View; she also has nothing but good words for it.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, One Piece has proven it’s a show for everyone. Sure, there were fears that Netflix would fail again due to the negative reviews it received after adapting Shinichirō Watanabe‘s Cowboy Bebop. But One Piece broke that assumption, proving a big win for Netflix—a redemption nobody saw coming.
In an episode of The View this week, Goldberg talked about One Piece as the hosts discussed their recent obsessions. “This a show that you could watch with your family,” she told the audience. She then dropped the series’ title, adding it was about pirates based on a “graphic novel.”
From there, she started praising the show, saying it was “wonderfully written and wonderfully shot.” After calling One Piece magnificent, Goldberg revealed she had the best time watching it.

Will there be One Piece Season 2?
After Netflix dropped the entire eight episodes of One Piece on August 31, fans' next question is, will there be One Piece Season 2? And the answer to that is yes. Two weeks after the series’ release, Oda-san formally announced the show’s renewal.
Using his Transponder Snail, the mangaka first thanked his long-running franchise's old and new fans. Later, he revealed Netflix decided to renew the show, which would see the continuation of the adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), Nami (Emily Rudd), Sanji (Taz Skylar), Zoro (Mackenyu), and Usopp (Jacob Romero).
Aside from the show’s renewal, Oda also teased the coming of a new character in One Piece Season 2, and he sure is one of the most awaited. “It seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor,” he said. “We will see!”
So, who could it be? Of course, it’s Tony Tony Chopper! Fans have been waiting for how Netflix will be adapting this character. Knowing he’s a reindeer that transforms into a human hybrid when he transforms, it’s a must-see how he will look in the series.
So far, there are no words on when One Piece Season 2 will be released. But as the WGA strike finally ended, the new season could start its production soon.
