Netflix’s One Piece recently shared their latest single for the upcoming highly-anticipated live-action series titled “My Sails Are Set.” The single features AURORA and has been written and produced by Giona Ostinelli and Sonya Belousova. This particular duo is quite popular among Netflix fans because of their work on The Witcher series, since they were responsible for the composition of the hit “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher.”
The One Piece anime has a huge fanbase that has been looking every which way to know what Netflix has in store for the upcoming live-action adaptation. The main theme of this song is the fan-favorite Nami, as she comes across the Straw Hat crew at the start.
Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli claimed that the two were searching for a fantastic artist who’s famous worldwide for carrying out Nami’s theme song. They further shared that once they came across AURORA, they instantly knew that this artist was the one who could perfectly perform the single. Sonya and Giona shared:
"We were looking for an exceptional artist with a global presence to perform Nami's theme song, embody Nami's rebellious spirit, portray her as an incredibly badass member of the Straw Hats crew, a sharp thief and navigator, but at the same time, fragile, with a dark past, impacted by a childhood trauma. As soon as we met AURORA, we immediately knew she was the one. We first introduce the "My Sails Are Set" theme as soon as the audience meets Nami in a quirky, playful, determined manner. Whereas our "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher" was developed within a singular episode, this time around with "My Sails Are Set" we’re able to introduce it at the very beginning of the season and then develop it throughout, thus giving the audience an opportunity to really dive into the theme and explore its various shapes and forms before climaxing into its most powerful and lyrical song rendition performed by AURORA. AURORA is truly brilliant, incredibly musical, she was so eager to bring it all to reflect all the various traits of Nami's personality. Netflix’s Plan Regarding One Piece
Netflix is very well aware of the fact that they can’t just release the live-action adaptation of the anime and instantly expect to get some good responses. So, their plan is to take familiar elements that might not stray too far away from what millions of anime fans expect from One Piece’s live-action series. One thing that’s good to know is that Netflix takes the source material seriously and greatly respects it.
When it comes to One Piece, the streaming giant have strictly followed it throughout the series’ production. Now, all we have to do is wait and see if fans actually like it as much as the anime.
