Six years after the end of the Naruto anime, the series will be back with four new episodes to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year. Though it has been months since the anime announced the coming of these special episodes, fans can’t stop talking about it, especially since its release date is near. Based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masahi Kishimoto, Naruto is about a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki who dreams of being recognized by everyone and becoming the village’s leader called Hokage. Studio Pierrot and Aniplex adapted the series into anime from 2002 to 2007, while its sequel, Naruto: Shippuden, aired from 2007 to 2017. After a long wait, Naruto will return with brand new episodes.
Back in March, the anime’s official website announced a “brand-new anime project” that is about to begin in time for its 20th anniversary. “Starting in September, a new anime project will begin (4 episodes total planned) in celebration of the 20th anniversary!!” the announcement reads.

What are the Naruto anime’s new four episodes about?
So far, there are no words on the plot of each Naruto anime episode. However, there are theories that it will feature the franchise differently. Some also suggest that it will run 30 minutes each. But based on the key art, the new episodes may focus on the iconic Team 7: Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi.

Meanwhile, the anime’s official website has already unveiled the opening and ending theme songs of the new Naruto anime. FLOW will be singing the opening theme song, GO!!!, which also comes from the original anime.
However, the Japanese rock band will redo the track for the franchise’s 20th anniversary. Alternatively, the ending theme song will be titled Viva☆Rock by Orange Range. With this latest update, fans wish to know more.
When is Naruto anime’s new episodes’ release date?
Naruto’s 20th anniversary special will be a one-month celebration, starting with the release of the first episode on Sunday, September 3, at 5:30 PM JST on TV Tokyo-affiliated channels.
