A livestream will go out from the panel rooms on October 10 so a worldwide audience can hear the news as it breaks, and that date also falls on Naruto Uzumaki’s birthday. The shared timing turns a convention appearance into a coordinated global rollout rather than a room-only teaser.
The official NARUTO / BORUTO X account presented the hour as a world-first disclosure of information on a completely new anime, staged at NYCC 2026 under the banner NARUTO: What’s Next?. The same post locked in a simultaneous worldwide livestream on the franchise’s official YouTube channel from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time on October 11, with an archive planned after the live window. The attached key art placed a young Team 7 over Konohagakure, with Naruto lunging toward a spinning Rasengan while Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake surged in behind him.
Junko Takeuchi, the longtime Japanese voice of Naruto, and Noriaki Sugiyama, who voices Sasuke, will take the stage for the announcement with Yoshihiro Tominaga of Studio Pierrot, an executive producer for the PIERROT FILMS label. The same session will also roll out further details on the NARUTO CARD GAME, the trading card project slated for a 2027 launch. The presentation is scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT on October 10, which is 6 a.m. JST on October 11 in Japan.
A four-episode 20th anniversary NARUTO anime was first announced in 2023 for a same-year debut, then pulled a week before its September 3 broadcast so the staff could raise the quality. Those original episodes were set to open and close with new work from FLOW, including a 20th anniversary take on GO!!! and a cover of Viva☆Rock. It remains unclear whether the limited series now headed for the New York stage is that postponed project under a new label or an entirely separate production.
The franchise is moving on a second track in Hollywood, where Lionsgate’s live-action NARUTO film under Destin Daniel Cretton entered a new phase this summer with a global search for Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. The latest unconfirmed reports describe a first-mission story in which the newly formed team is sent on an assignment that turns far more dangerous than planned, forcing Naruto to confront both his teammates’ distrust and the demon sealed inside him. Charles Melton has been reported in late talks to play Kakashi, though Lionsgate has not issued an official cast list, and filming has been described as targeting the United Kingdom in 2027.
That film remains months from cameras, which is why the New York stage now carries the nearer promise: a concrete look at the next NARUTO anime rather than another holding statement. New York Comic Con runs Thursday, October 8, through Sunday, October 11, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and the NARUTO: What’s Next? hour on Empire Stage is the point in that four-day calendar when the limited series stops being a rumor and becomes a scheduled reveal. Viewers who cannot reach Manhattan can still watch the same window on the official YouTube stream, then wait for the archive if the Japan-morning start time is out of reach.
