All Might has been through a lot since My Hero Academia began. From training with One For All to becoming the Symbol of Peace, serving as the former No. 1 Pro Hero, and teaching the UA students, he has done everything for the good of humanity. However, as he returns to the battlefield for the heroes’ final fight against the villains, the character’s voice actor, Kenta Miyake, discusses All Might’s transformation in My Hero Academia Season 7.
In an interview with ComicBook, Miyake revealed that the anime has elevated All Might to a new level after the end of Season 6, a shift inspired by Deku. After using all his powers to fight AFO, All Might’s goal became raising Deku, standing by his side, and supporting him for as long as possible. However, when Deku lost control following the fallout of the Paranormal Liberation War, All Might was left heartbroken.
“Although Izuku really needed to be stopped, All Might found himself unable to stop him,” he continued. “This left All Might feeling so pathetic, and he forgot the meaning of his own existence.”
Fortunately, All Might manages to recover as the story progresses. This time, he is determined to be the best hero he can be despite having no powers. This evolution makes Toshinori Yagi more mature, and for Miyake, this character development is “quite emotional” given everything All Might has been through.
All Might carried the weight of AFO and Japan's villain problems for years until Deku came along. The young hero taught All Might that sharing the burden is okay and that heroes are stronger when they work together. So, even without a quirk, All Might proves he can still be a hero by helping others.
Daiki Yamashita Shares Deku’s Thoughts in My Hero Academia Season 7
The recent episode of My Hero Academia Season 7 finally saw Deku return to the UA to face Shigaraki. Their confrontation is expected to be one of the biggest moments of the season, especially after Bakugo was left on the verge of death. While no one knows exactly what is going through Deku’s mind, voice actor Daiki Yamashita has shared his insights into the character’s thoughts as the final war continues.
Like All Might, Yamashita noted that a significant shift occurred in Deku during Season 6. In fact, the sixth season finale left the 34-year-old actor with a “very important feeling” after everyone worked together to bring Deku back.
“As such, one strong, big emotion took root inside Izuku, and so when he was facing season seven, I felt that Izuku's eyes were filled with much more hope than when he was fighting alone in season six,” he explained.
Now that Deku has grown stronger, thanks to the support of his fellow heroes, Yamashita is determined to perfectly convey Izuku Midoriya’s feelings and “get them across.” After all the challenges he has faced, it’s safe to say that Deku is more resilient now than ever before. This time, he has learned to control and use his various quirks effectively against his enemies.
My Hero Academia Season 7 took a brief hiatus to give way to the 2024 Summer Olympics. Now that the games are over, the anime is expected to resume and finally feature the much-anticipated fight between Shigaraki and Deku. As the season continues, fans will see just how resilient All Might and Deku have become.
