My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 will be one of the most highly-anticipated anime sequels premiering in the Summer 2025 anime season.

Shinichi Fukuda's romantic comedy manga series, My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru), may be over, but the TV anime adaptation is getting for a major comeback this year. Over the weekend at AnimeJapan 2025, the production team behind the anime series released the first teaser and special illustration for My Dress-Up Darling Season 2, and confirmed its July 2025 premiere.

CloverWorks, which animated the first season of My Dress-Up Darling anime, was previously confirmed to return to produce the animation of Season 2, and to commemorate the news, the studio released a special illustration featuring Wakana Gojo and Marin Kitagawa.

My Dress-Up Darling Season 1 premiered in January 2022, airing 12 episodes during the Winter 2022 anime season.

Keisuke Shinohara is returning to direct My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 with the rest of the main staff. Yoriko Tomita is in charge of the series composition; Yusuke Yamamoto and Kazumasa Ishida are handling the character designs, and Takeshi Nakatsuka is composing the anime's music. New episodes will air on Crunchyroll.

What is My Dress-Up Darling about?

The live-action My Dress-Up Darling series is based on the manga written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. The romantic comedy series began serialization in Square Enix's Young Gangan in January 2018, and as of May 2024, 13 volumes have been published. Square Enix Manga & Books, which publishes My Dress-Up Darling manga in English, shared an official description of the series:

Traumatized by a childhood incident with a friend who took exception to his love of traditional dolls, doll-artisan hopeful Wakana Gojō passes his days as a loner, finding solace in the home ec room at his high school. To Wakana, people like beautiful Marin Kitagawa, a trendy girl who's always surrounded by a throng of friends, is practically an alien from another world. But when cheerful Marin--never one to be shy--spots Wakana sewing away one day after school, she barges in with the aim of roping her quiet classmate into her secret hobby: cosplay.
