Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 is Already Getting Censored

The premiere episode of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation was already censored in different regions, but some platforms in Asia can still watch the raw version.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, one of the greatest isekai anime series of all time, has returned for its second season, and while the Sylphy-focused "Episode 0" has hyped fans of the anime, there was one controversial thing about the Season 2 premiere that many fans were not able to see in their region.

The isekai anime based on the light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka is finally back, but the story doesn't pick back up where the protagonist Rudeus left; instead "Episode 0", titled Guardian Fitz, shows us what happened to Rudeus's childhood friend, Sylphy, after the mass-teleportation in Fittoa. The premiere episode of Season 2 shows Sylphy's role as the powerful new bodyguard of Princess Ariel Anemoi Asura, who's in mortal peril. While Rudeus and Eris journeyed home, this is the deadly drama that was playing out in the halls of power.

However, there's one point in the episode that featured Darius Ganius in a rather compromising position. "Episode 0" of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation showed the slimy man holding a young girl who's scantily clad, and he's seen stroking her back, making the girl uncomfortable. The censored scene is enough to offend some viewers, but in the uncensored episode, the scene looks creepier. The original scene shows footage touching the girl inappropriately, and he's much more touchy in the raw footage.

The unedited cut was shown to viewers in Japan who subscribe to uncensored platforms, but for many fans around the world, the edited version of the episode was the version shown on their screen. Some platforms in Asia managed to acquire the original uncensored footage, but for some platforms outside of Asia, such as Crunchyroll, they were given the censored cut.

This isn't the first time Mushoku Tensei faced controversy; the first season of the anime was criticized for featuring creepy scenes that made some viewers uncomfortable, with some comments on Crunchyroll pointing out the story's mature themes. Of course, some fans are not happy about the censorship while others were thankful for the intervention. The censored part was not essential to the plot, and the footage is not as dirty as the uncensored cuts of Redo of Healer or any other anime with naughtier scenes, so to many fans, the censorship is probably not a big deal.

If you're not familiar with Mushoku Tensei, you can read the official synopsis below:

"An unemployed otaku has just reached the lowest point in his life. He wants nothing more than the ability to start over, but just as he thinks it may be possible...he gets hit by a truck and dies! Shockingly, he finds himself reborn into an infant's body in a strange new world of swords and magic. His identity now is Rudeus Greyrat, yet he still retains the memories of his previous life. Reborn into a new family, Rudeus makes use of his past experiences to forge ahead in this fantasy world as a true prodigy, gifted with maturity beyond his years and a natural born talent for magic. With swords instead of chopsticks, and spell books instead of the internet, can Rudeus redeem himself in this wondrous yet dangerous land."
