Monogatari: Off & Monster Season Anime Announced with a Trailer Focusing on Koyomi Araragi

Fans will once again see Koyomi Araragi and the other characters from the Monogatari series in Off & Monster Season.

The Monogatari series is about to start again. After the 2019 anime series Zoku Monogatari, the fan-favorite series by Nisio Isin and Vofan is back with the newly announced anime adaptation of Off Season and Monster Season novels. Recently, Aniplex teased a new project by revealing the initials “O” and “M.” From there, Off & Monster Season is officially announced, along with a trailer, mostly focusing on Koyomi Araragi.

The Off & Monster Season preview begins with a montage of scenes featuring Hitagi Senjougahara and Koyomi Araragi. It also shows Black Hanekawa striking a pose. As the next sequences feature different characters from the series, it reveals Ougi Oshino seemingly chanting while the air circles around her.

Koyomi then looks at himself in the mirror while touching it. Later, different faces of the third-year high school student play out, followed by a good look at Nadeko Sengoku, Suruga Kanabaru, Mayoi Hachikuji, Tsukihi Araragi, and Yotsugi Ononoki.

Elsewhere, the anime has also released a key visual for Off & Monster Season. The image also features Nadeko Sengoku, Suruga Kanabaru, Mayoi Hachikuji, and Tsukihi Araragi on the stairs while Yotsugi Ononoki hangs in the air.

What is Off & Monster Season about?

Off & Monster Season follows the story of the girls Koyomi Araragi saved. Though his story has already ended after graduating from high school, the girls’ tales are just about to begin, and the anime will reveal the hardships they faced during their youth.

After graduating from high school, Koyomi Araragi's story ended. This time, it's really over. However, the story of the girls who were saved by Koyomi was not over. A prequel or sequel to these girls struggling in their youth.

 

Off & Monster Season is adapted from the two Monogatari light novels written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. Off Season, the fourth saga of the series is a collection of side stories featuring different characters and has four arcs: OrokamonogatariWazamonogatariNademonogatari, and Musubimonogatari. Alternatively, Monster Season focuses on the story of Koyomi Araragi’s life at the university and consists of six arcs: Shinobumonogatari, Yoimonogatari, Amarimonogatari, Ougimonogatari, and Shinomonogatari (two novels).

Monogatari started its serialization in 2006 and published 29 volumes under the Kodansha Box imprint. It was then adapted into manga titled Bakemonogatari, illustrated by Oh! Great. It has been serialized since 2018 and has 15 tankobon volumes with 152 chapters. Shaft adapted its anime, with the first season released in July 2009, the second season in July 2013, and the third and final season in December 2014. A prequel anime film trilogy, Kizumonogatari, was also released in 2016 and 2017. Meanwhile, Shaft and Aniplex announced the production of the new anime, Off & Monster Season.

So far, the official release date of Off & Monster Season is yet to be revealed, but it’s scheduled for release in 2024. With this new anime coming from the world of Monogatari, the series’ fans will surely watch out for it.
