Studio Bones is hyping up its new anime, Metallic Rogue. As it will only take a couple of months before this original series hits the small screens, the studio has dropped its latest trailer, showing Rouge and Naomi in action.
Unlike the many new anime series today, Metallic Rogue is an original anime produced by Studio Bones for its 25th anniversary. Hence, it isn’t based on a pre-existing manga. The cyberpunk series is directed by Motonobu Hori, with Yutaka Izubichi working on the composition, Toshizo Nemoto on the screenplay, Toshihiro Kawamoto on character design, and Taisei Iwasaki on the music composition. For the first time in 19 years, after the success of the 2002 sci-fi anime RahXephon, Bones and Izubuchi have joined forces again to bring Metallic Rouge to life.
The anime’s official website has dropped the teaser featuring Rogue seemingly complaining about life after finding herself “always fighting against her own will.” She apologizes for not running away when the scene cuts to Naomi, looking happy as she’s enjoying her bowl of ramen. From there, a montage of scenes showing the two going on a steam bath, overlooking the roads, and thinking androids are revealed.
But as they decide to travel, a big fight begins, putting Naomi and Rouge in action as they start their mission. The preview shows Rouge transforming into her red-and-green android version as she faces their humanoid enemies. As things get pretty intense, Naomi swears they will protect the world’s peace and the people’s freedom.

What is Metallic Rouge about?
The tech-noir anime Metallic Road is set in a futuristic world where humans and androids exist. It tells the story of Rogue, a female android tasked to complete a mission on Mars with her partner, Naomi. The duo has to find and kill nine humanoids pretending to be humans. Called the Immortal Nine, these androids pose a great threat to the government and the world. And as people and robots co-exist in this world, it’s a big mystery how Rogue and Naomi can fulfill their task.

So far, Studio Bones has yet to reveal when Metallic Rogue will be released, though it has a release window of January 2024. Judging by its trailer and storyline, this epic new anime seems to be a must-see.
