The Supergirl series might be over but that doesn't mean Melissa Benoist has said goodbye to the character. The former Glee star recently admitted that she kept one of the suits she wore after the Arrowverse show concluded. Benoist also expressed her interest in returning as Kara Danvers in one of James Gunn's future DCU projects.
Melissa Benoist debuted as Kara Zor-El in CBS' Supergirl back in 2015, a role she continued to play when the show moved to The CW for the second season. The series became an important part of the network's Arrowverse which included shows like Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. It concluded with its sixth season in 2021.
But just because the show is over doesn't mean Benoist is quite ready to hang up the cape. She recently posted a video on her Cameo page where she greeted a fan of the Supergirl series before admitting that she wants to continue playing the character and even took home a suit from the series (via The Direct).

"Who knows if I may put on the suit again? We’ll see. I have one that I sneakily took when we ended the show," Benoist said. "Don’t tell anyone. This is a secret. A big one, actually. But yeah, I do have a suit in my attic, and I would love to play the character again. We’ll see what happens.”
This isn't exactly the first time that Benoist expressed her interest in reprising the role. However, it's still unclear if any of the Arrowverse characters will have a future now that James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over DC Studios and the duo have a clear plan for the new DC Universe. Still, we're hoping that Benoist gets another chance at playing Kara Danvers in the DCU.
The DCU recently introduced a new Supergirl in one of its major films. Sasha Calle played the Girl of Steel in The Flash and although her future is currently uncertain, there is a possibility that the new Kara Zor-El could continue to be a part of the DC.
