McDonald’s has announced a new anime collaboration. After collaborating with The Devil is Part-Timer! for its As Featured In meal, the globally renowned diner has tied up with Spy x Family for a Happy Meal. And as expected, this one excites fans even more.
Spy x Family is a Japanese manga series by Tatsuyo Endo. After its serialization started in 2019, Wit Studio and CloverWorks adapted it into anime in April 2022, while an anime film, Spy x Family Code: White, will be released in December 2023. And with its huge success, the franchise is now gaining traction, attracting different collaborations.
McDonald’s announced its collaboration with Spy x Family in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The franchise will be one of the titles that will be featured on its Happy Meal in Japan, along with Loco’s Errand, Space/Moon Special Feature with Quiz, and Chikawa, which will be available starting on September 1. What is in McDonald’s x Spy Family collaboration?
The limited-time collaboration will feature coloring books and sticker pages in different varieties. The lineup includes the Forger family, Anya, Anya and friends, Yoru, and Lloyd.
There will also be one bonus toy, though there’s a disclaimer that it won’t be from Spy x Family. “Look forward to what you can get!” the announcement reads.
Sadly, this promotion is only available in Japan, and there are no words if it will be made available in other countries, like the US. The promo will only be available while stocks last, as the coloring pages and stickers are limited.
McDonald’s and Spy x Family Collaboration excites fans
Many have expressed their excitement over the new McDonald’s and Spy x Family collab on X. One fan can’t help but ask what the bonus toy will be, not knowing it won’t be from the series.
Others are now ready to visit the store and get their hands on these Happy Meals. “I’m looking forward to it,” one says. “I want all kinds,” another claims. And though most of them are already adults, they say coloring will still be fun.
Spy x Family’s Success
Spy x Family was one of the biggest new anime series of 2022. It has also become one of the best-selling manga, with over 30 million copies in circulation as of March 2023. Many have praised it for its great storytelling, humor, and artwork.
The anime’s second season was already announced at the Jump Fest 2023 in December 2022, with Ichiro Okouchi as the new scriptwriter, replacing Kazuhiro Furuhashi. Spy x Family Season 2 will premiere in October 2023, and many are now looking forward to seeing the Forger family’s return to the small screens.
