Leaks surrounding the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game are in danger of coming up on the internet in the next couple of days after developer Insomniac Games recently became the victim of a cyber attack. Following the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 back in October, PlayStation fans have been eagerly waiting to see more of Marvel’s Wolverine, which is the next major Insomniac Games project.

While the developers initially revealed the first teaser trailer of Wolverine in 2021, not much has been shown regarding the game in the last two years. However, now both Insomniac Games and PlayStation are being held at bay by an organization that has managed to hack the developer and is now threatening to leak key details regarding their upcoming much-anticipated game.

Cyber Daily initially reported that a ransomware group called Rhysida is said to have completely and successfully hacked Insomniac Games. As a result, it has gotten its hands on some details not only related to Marvel’s Wolverine but a wide range of employees at the company. In order to prove that they’re not lying, Rhysida has even posted a bunch of screenshots that are apparently from the Wolverine game.

The organization is currently threatening to publish all the materials it has received during its hack seven days from now. Not only this, but it will also be hosting an auction for the materials that will start at the equivalent of $2M in Bitcoin. In a statement given to VGC, a PlayStation representative said following this report:

"We are aware of reports that Insomniac Games has been the victim of a cyber security attack. We are currently investigating this situation. We have no reason to believe that any other SIE or Sony divisions have been impacted."

Of course, there’s no doubt that this is quite a terrible situation for those at PlayStation and Insomniac Games, especially if we assume that everything Rhysida has said is true. Cyber attacks resulting in massive leaks surrounding multiple video games have become quite common in the past couple of years, with 2022’s significant leak associated with GTA 6 being the most noteworthy example.

However, for now, we have no idea how the situation will escalate and what happens with this entire ordeal involving PlayStation and Insomniac Games. Hopefully, it won’t be as bad as it looks right now!

When is Marvel’s Wolverine expected to come out?

Since the hype around Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 somewhat died down, fans have shifted their attention to Insomniac’s next big title, Marvel’s Wolverine. They can’t wait to get more information on the game, especially its release date. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, a reputable insider known as DanielRPK does claim that Insomniac Games is planning on releasing Marvel’s Wolverine on PS5 in 2025.

Marvel's Wolverine Game Release Date, Gameplay Details

Following the game’s announcement in 2021, the developers claimed that Wolverine was in its early stages of development and wouldn’t be released anytime soon. Since Insomniac Games usually takes four years to develop a title after its initial announcement, the release window given by the insider does make plenty of sense. If this report turns out to be true, then we might start seeing much more of Marvel’s Wolverine soon!
