Joseph Quinn is now setting a footing in Hollywood after the success of his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4. As this puts him in the spotlight, becoming an instant fan-favorite, it’s no surprise that he has now become a part of Marvel Studios’ next major project: The Fantastic Four. With big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan, the English actor reveals how he’s now preparing for the role of Johnny Storm / Human Torch.
In his recent appearance at the FACTS Convention in Belgium, Quinn was asked (via Fantastic Four Updates’ X page) how he would play the role of Human Torch in The Fantastic Four. Knowing this superpowered adventurer could turn his entire body into a flaming fire, he disclosed how he planned to do that.
“I’m setting myself on fire,” he joked. “For real. Every day.”
As expected, the audience laughed at his revelation, making him crack a smile, too. He even claimed that he had to see how it would turn out later and couldn’t help but chuckle even more. Evidently, it was just a joke, and Quinn didn’t have to turn himself into a fireball to give justice to his role. With the modern technology today, the visual effects can perfectly handle that.
Who are the cast of Marvel’s The Fantastic Four?
After a long wait, Marvel finally unveiled the main cast of The Fantastic Four in February in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Quinn would be joining the likes of the Star Wars: The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / the Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing.
News also emerged that Julia Garner had joined the cast of the reboot as Shalla-Bal, the female version of Silver Surfer. However, as the key visual featured the appearance of the robot H.E.R.B.I.E., it remains to be seen who will voice this character. There are also rumors that Doctor Doom or Galactus will be the movie’s main villain, but their respective actors are yet to be announced.

What is Marvel’s The Fantastic Four about?
Though Marvel has yet to reveal the official plot details of The Fantastic Four, there are theories that it will be set in the 1960s, as teased by the Life magazine issue that The Thing is reading in the movie’s visual. However, as there are claims that the franchise’s first family will lead the new Avengers, it’s also possible to be set in the present through the multiverse.
In an interview with Collider in October 2023, the film’s director, Matt Shakman, revealed that it would be “different in so many ways.” Though he couldn’t reveal the specifics further, he teased that they were doing things “very differently from a story standpoint.” Despite that, he promised that the film would really “fit the material,” adding that it would be like no other that fans had seen before.
The Fantastic Four is set to hit the big screen on July 25, 2025. Are you excited to see Quinn’s version of Human Torch? Despite the mixed reactions from loyal fans, it looks like the actor will do everything to perfectly bring this character to life again.
