Insomniac Games got an important detail wrong in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is being pointed out by several fans. Although it has been less than a week since the game was released, it has faced criticism from different outlets. Players have highlighted that Spider-Man 2 focuses on many boring tasks and increases the playtime by adding achievements and trophies that require players to complete repetitive activities.
Some of these criticisms might be exaggerations, but most of them are essential points the developers should look over. Understandably, players expected the title to have problems it might need to fix, and that’s how it goes when it comes to recently released games. This is the reason why early updates and patches are so frequent these days.
Despite that, some issues did cause the players to criticize the game, including one that led to some players being unable to download their Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 physical copies on their PlayStation 5. Although it affected a handful of people, Insomniac Games responded by asking gamers to report all types of glitches and bugs they find in the game.
Recently, a Twitter user found a visual issue in the game that the graphics team might have overseen. As per the user JAAY_Rock_, the flag on Miles Morales’ house represents Cuba instead of Puerto Rico. Miles is half Latin, but his mother hails from Puerto Rico and not Cuba. While this doesn’t directly affect the gameplay of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, plenty of fans still consider this oversight offensive and lazy.
For many, this is especially true considering the fact that a Puerto Rican Spider-Man costume is featured in the game with the right colors. James Stevenson, the director of Community and Marketing of Insomniac Games responded to this issue stating that the team is working on fixing this visual problem. Apart from this, more major pressing glitches and bugs are also present in Spider-Man 2, like when Miles transforms into a white cube.
However, since this is a highly controversial topic, especially one involving proper race representation, a lot of gamers think the developers should prioritize fixing the flag image to not provoke any concerns. The character of Miles Morales is unique mainly because of his nationality, which plays a huge part in his story, so fans are shocked to see Insomniac Games getting this particular detail wrong.
Despite the negative feedback and several glitches, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has also received tons of positive reviews. Insomniac Games developed an amazing masterpiece that shows how much love and dedication they put into their video game. The problems can be easily fixed once the developers listen to the community and get to them, and hopefully, they do so soon. It’s possible that the game’s next patch will solve most of the issues highlighted by the fans.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is currently available to play on PlayStation 5.
