Today, Sony's State of Play released a brand new gameplay trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. The new trailer showcased the open world gameplay of the highly-anticipated superhero game, and a preview of 65 different Spider-suits available in the sequel.
The trailer also reveals that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will have a much larger map that's more than double the size of the map in the first Marvel's Spider-Man game, and players can use web wings to move across Marvel's New York faster. The new gameplay sneak peek also gave us a glimpse of the new activities and storylines in the open world, and the various ways the game will indicate those markers out to players via visual cues, an in-game app, and special abilities such as the Spider heroes having new AR tech in masks.
The best part about the new gameplay trailer is how it showcased the amount of new Spider suits available in the game. In fact, there are "lots and lots of suits", according to developer Insomniac Games. There are over 65 suits coming from movies, comics, and featuring multiple original designs. The game will also you to other customization options, giving over 200 different ways to outfit two Spider superheroes.
Insomniac Games also teased that in addition to Venom, Kraven, and Lizard, the game will feature Marvel villains that we have never seen in the Spider-Man universe before. The gameplay trailer also gave us our first look at Mysterio in the game. It's also revealed that players will be able to instantly switch between Peter and Miles in the open world. New locations include Brooklyn Visions Academy, Midtown High School, and Spoiler Studios.
Officially announced in 2021, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-man: Miles Morales from Insomniac Games. It features the ability to switch between Miles Morales and Peter Parker as dual protagonists in the game.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release exclusively for PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
