Insomniac Games finally provided players with a full look at The Lizard in a promotional poster of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ahead of its launch. The developers first revealed the gameplay trailer of the PlayStation 5 sequel back in May as a part of an extensive demo. During this trailer, the developers tried their best to keep The Lizard hidden, but we did get a very brief look. This confirmed that it was going to be among some of the new villains that will be appearing in the upcoming game.
The developers have finally decided to give fans a proper look at The Lizard in hopes of generating hype for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac Games recently posted a character poster for the reptile on their official X account. This poster is among some of the many that the developers have decided to share with players this week, with the previously revealed ones being of Peter Parker, Kraven the Hunter, and Miles Morales.
When it comes to the design of The Lizard, the vicious Spider-Man opponent looks pretty scary and contains some sharp spikes that run all the way from his back down to his tail. Also, we haven’t gotten a look at the lab coat that usually comes with all the other versions of the character we have seen in the past. There’s a chance we might see it at some point in the game, most probably during Dr. Curt Connors’ first transformation into the beast.
The Lizard’s Impact On The Story Of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
The Lizard first appeared in the world of Spider-Man back in 1963 through Marvel Comics. The character has been a constant in many Spider-Man video games, from the first PS1 Spider-Man game to 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. It was about time The Lizard showed up in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series, especially since the character has been teased twice now. In Marvel’s Spider-Man, players find hidden backpacks that reveal important bits of lore, with one of these backpacks being titled “The Lizard’s Blood,” confirming that Parker has crossed paths with The Lizard sometime during his superhero career.
In Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Dr. Curt Connors is seen for the first time in the video game series during the post-credits scene, where he is busy working for Norman Osborn in an attempt to cure his son Harry Osborn of his strange life-threatening disease. In the gameplay trailer of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, both Miles and Peter can be seen chasing The Lizard since he’s the only one who can save Harry Osborn.
On the basis of this, it looks like The Lizard/Curt Connors is going to play a crucial role in the story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Since Connors is working under Norman in order to help Harry, it looks as if he’s involved with the Symbiote’s origin in one way or another. Therefore, he might be involved in saving Harry Osborn’s life as well as helping Peter defeat the aggressive and parasitic hold of the Symbiote suit over him.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release on October 20, 2023, exclusively on PS5.
