By the end of 2018’s Spider-Man, multiple characters knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. However, a new player theory recently surfaced suggesting that another famous Marvel character might also know his real identity in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The upcoming game is all set to push Peter Parker’s personal relationships with his best friend, Harry Osborn, coming back and the alien symbiote ready to take over the hero’s psyche in the game.
If this player theory somehow turns out to be true, there is a high chance that another prominent “hunter” might have Spider-Man in their sights, apart from Kraven. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues the game’s story nearly 10 months after the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In addition, the game will feature an epic battle where the two web-slingers go against two of the most dangerous foes, i.e., Kraven the Hunter and Venom.
Kraven returns to New York to put an end to the two Spider-Men and a handful of the city’s super-powered residents. Currently, we aren’t quite sure what Venom’s role is in the story. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also feature some returning characters, such as Mary-Jane Watson, Yuri Watanabe, and Norman Osborn, with his son Harry Osborn set to have a huge role in the game.
One important character from Spider-Man 1 is Silver Sable, the mercenary who was both aligned with and against Spider-Man in the first game and its subsequent DLC expansions. We aren’t quite sure about her fate yet in the sequel, though. However, a Reddit user known as Apo51209 shares his theory on how Sable might play a significant role in Spider-Man 2 and how she might impact Peter and Miles’ fight.
Since MJ was staying in Sable's home country Symkaria, the two grew closer to each other. Furthermore, Peter Parker also joined them during the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales as he also had to stay in the country for a month. The user's theory suggests that amidst these events, Sable might have already put two and two together and figured out who Peter Parker really is in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Even though Apo’s theory is just a theory as of now, it might offer a real twist to the sequel’s narrative.
If it turns out to be true, Peter and Miles might find themselves having to go against her as well as Kraven, as both mercenaries attempt to defeat the two web-slingers. On the other hand, Sable’s friendship with MJ could also make her a key ally if the two Spider-Men find themselves overwhelmed due to Kraven’s forces and the increasing power of the alien symbiote.
Without Sable’s appearance in the game, Insomniac Games has already teased how personal Spider-Man 2’s story will be for the superheroes. Fans can expect to see the return of Peter’s best friend while he experiences the influence of the symbiote. In addition to this, the latest trailer also confirmed Miles’ confrontation with Mister Negative. Both web-slingers will have their hands full, and players have to wait till October to see what the pair has to go through.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release for PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
