This detail might answer some of your questions and relieve you of your worries about the upcoming Spider-Man game once again being set in the city of New York. The reveal trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase 2021, which was a necessary promotional tactic for the upcoming sequel.
This trailer confirmed plenty of important features regarding the game, such as the fact that Miles Morales will be coming back to the game, Peter Parker’s brand-new mechanical armed suit, and the fact that Venom will also be featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. A Reddit user known as KaZ_02 recently posted a couple of photos in which he compares the location used in the reveal trailer of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to the same location of New York from Marvel’s Spider-Man. The first two pictures suggest that the area is present in the city’s Greenwich section, whereas the remaining photos highlight small differences in detail between the sequel and the original Marvel game.
Many of the details are pretty small, with very few changes to the locations of some buildings, whereas other changes are much more prominent. This includes the store called Mikal’s that was added on one of the corners of the street. The last picture of the slideshow features a collage, pointing out all of the differences between the two games in bright red outlines.
The fan thought that the location was specifically made for the reveal trailer, but after closely examining it, they came up with the conclusion that the same area was in Marvel’s Spider-Man. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the most major introduction to New York City is Mikal’s, which the fan thinks might play an important role in the game or might be connected to the brand-new character in the upcoming sequel’s story.
When you look closer at the street signs in the original game, you can see that they read “Goodman and Greenwich,” whereas in the sequel, it says, “Greenwich and Morton.” Many fans also decided to voice their concerns after seeing this, claiming that they were worried the upcoming game might be similar to the previous one. With the increasing cost of producing video games, the studios usually end up reusing the maps in order to save the cost.
