Marvel Rivals is breaking one of its biggest traditions. For the first time since launch, a seasonal update will not add a new hero to the roster. Instead, Season 10.5 is going all-in on the Marvel Cinematic Universe with two new game modes inspired by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The details were revealed in the latest Marvel Rivals Dev Vision video, where creative director Guangguang walked through the next two phases of the Path to Doomsday event. Rather than a new character, NetEase is expanding the event storyline as it builds toward the Avengers: Doomsday movie.

First up is the Infinity War mode, launching October 9 alongside Season 10.5. Twelve players are split into six teams of two, facing off in 2v2 deathmatches across Wakanda. Losing a round drains your team's health, and once that health runs out, you're eliminated. Between rounds, teams draft cards from a random pool to buff their abilities and build out different playstyles from match to match.

The twist is the Infinity Stones themselves. Every team receives one of the six Stones at the start of a match, each granting a unique gameplay bonus. Defeat another team and you claim their Stone, stacking its power onto your own. The mode turns the season's headline artifact into a snowballing win condition — the longer you survive, the more Stones you hoard.

Then, on October 22, the Endgame mode arrives with something on a completely different scale: a 50-player PvE battle. Players will fight across the ruins of the Avengers Compound against Thanos' army, making it the most ambitious event the game has attempted yet. It's a full-scale war rather than a hero showcase, and it lands just as the Path to Doomsday storyline approaches its conclusion.

The no-new-hero decision is a deliberate one. Season 10, titled Butcher's Blasphemy, added Gorr the God Butcher as its sole hero — already a break from the game's usual two-heroes-per-season cadence. Guangguang has reassured players that the single-hero format is not the new normal, confirming that Season 11 will return to the regular two-hero release schedule with two new characters.

Both events will also bring interactive activities to Times Square, giving players things to do outside the new modes. Halloween festivities are on the way too, with new cosmetics and two exclusive events tied to the spooky season.

Season 10.5 goes live on October 9. No new hero, no new map — just the Infinity Stones, a 50-player war against Thanos' army, and the biggest swing NetEase has taken with Marvel Rivals' live events so far.
