Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra Potential Invaders Appearance Explained

After a two-year wait, Skydance New Media and Marvel Games finally released the story trailer of the new action-adventure videogame, Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra. Though its gameplay features the unlikely alliance of Captain American and Black Panther during the peak of World War II, the preview reveals it won’t happen until after their face-off. However, with its familiar setting hinting at possible Marvel connections, there are theories that the Invaders may appear in the game.

Marvel’s Invaders are known for fighting against the Nazis in World War II. As Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra has the same theme, and Captain America plays a major role in the game, it seems to have laid down the groundwork for this group of superheroes’ appearance. So, here’s how it could happen.

How could the Invaders appear in Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra?

In the Marvel Comics Avengers #71, which was released in October 1969, the Invaders were sent to Monte Cassino in Italy in December 1943 to retrieve a powerful weapon called the Ordnung Zeitgeist before Hitler’s forces could lay their hands on it. Seeing Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra has the same premise, Captain America may be already an established part of the group, working with Human Torch, Namor, and other Golden Age heroes, like Bucky and Toro, at that time.

It’s also probable that Captain America and the 1940s Black Panther, Azzuri, will lead the creation of the Invaders to form an alliance of superheroes that will fight against the Nazis, setting up a possible DLC or sequel. With Human Torch and Namor’s connection to the game’s era, as seen in Marvel Comics, it’s easy to include them as part of the game.

Who are the Marvel’s Invaders?

Created by Roy Thomas, Sal Buscema, and Frank Robbins, the Invaders were first introduced in Avengers #71. The group was composed of Captain America, his sidekick Bucky, the original android Human Torch, the latter’s sidekick Toro, and Namor the Sub-Mariner. The group worked together to oppose the forces of Nazism and became a team after saving the life of Britain's Prime Minister Winston Churchill from Master Man.

Churchill suggested they should become a group and became known as the Invaders. In addition, they’re also known as the Marvel’s early Golden Age superheroes. They were seen in different flashbacks fighting against the Nazis in World War II and handling other issues and conflicts at the time.
