ENA has unveiled a second teaser for its forthcoming campus romance Between Steps, giving viewers a sharper look at the uneasy tenderness that sits at the center of the series. The new preview arrives as the network continues its pre-broadcast campaign for the Monday-Tuesday drama, shifting attention from earlier, sweeter mood clips toward a confession that is more direct, more vulnerable, and more emotionally complicated than the first round of promotion suggested.
Between Steps is a youth romance about Park Min-jae (Choo Young-woo), a former competitive swimmer who lost his right leg to illness and later rebuilt his life around robotics research, and Im Yoo-jin (Kim So-hyun), a graduate student who stumbles onto a new academic path after her original plans collapse. The pair meet in a university robotics lab as two people who are still finding their footing, and the series follows the spicy, bitter, and sweet connection that grows between them as they learn how to move toward one another. The drama is the final work of the late director Ahn Pan-seok, the filmmaker behind Something in the Rain, One Spring Night, and The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, and it was written by Min Hyo-jung.
The new teaser opens on a confrontation that feels less like a shy first step and more like a decision Im Yoo-jin has already made. Sitting across from Park Min-jae, she slides a ring box over the table and delivers a formal confession, telling him she likes him a great deal and refusing to dress the moment up as anything smaller than what it is. The clip then cuts away from that bold declaration into quieter, heavier images that suggest affection in this story will not arrive without strain, hesitation, and private pain.
That tension deepens when Park Min-jae is shown struggling with pain in his leg, his face tight as he tries to keep the moment from breaking him. Over the scene, a voice-over asks, “Are you pretending not to have seen it, or did you really not see it?” The line hangs over his discomfort like an unanswered accusation, hinting that someone close to him has noticed more than he is ready to admit and that the romance unfolding between the two leads is already tangled up with things left unsaid.
The preview then turns back to Im Yoo-jin, catching a brief image of her breaking down in tears inside a car before she speaks to him again with the same stubborn honesty. Even after that raw, private collapse, she makes her feelings plain once more and says, “No matter how petty or mean you act, it doesn’t make me stop liking you.” The line frames her affection as something that will not retreat simply because Park Min-jae pulls away, acts poorly, or tries to make himself harder to love.
Between Steps is scheduled to premiere on October 5 at 10 p.m. KST on ENA, with new episodes expected to air on Mondays and Tuesdays across a twelve-episode run. International viewers will also be able to watch the series on Disney+, where the campus romance is set to roll out alongside its Korean broadcast window.
