Kafka Hibino has now fully become a kaiju, and the government dubbed him Kaiju Number Eight, whose species is yet to be known. But amid the confusion of his sudden monster transformation, Kafka receives good news. He has been accepted to the first level of the Japan Anti-Kaiju Defense Force. So, in the new preview stills for Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3, titled Revenge Match, Kafka, together with Reno Ichikawa, takes the second round of the defense member selection exam.
The Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3 stills begin with Kikoru Shinomiya. After showing her physical strength in the previous episode, Kikoru is about to unleash her real abilities as she joins the second round of exams with Kafka and Reno. The next preview shows Mina Ashiro reading papers in her office with a serious look. Kafka is then seen sweating and giving his all to pass the exam while wearing a Defense Force uniform.
It’s followed by a still of him and Reno in action as they hold their weapons and wear their masks, ready to attack. A look at the people behind the exams is revealed, and they seem to be closely watching what’s happening through their monitors. For the last still, Iharu Furuhashi and Haruichi Izumo are about to be introduced. These two also joined the Defense Force, and both have good credits.

What to Expect from Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3
Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3 will see Kafka and Reno meeting Kikoru again. With Reno’s help, Kafka hid his monster identity and took the second round of the defense member selection exams. Kikoru has proven formidable after lifting Kafka and Reno’s vehicle in the parking lot. Hence, Kafka will find it hard to keep up with her strength, resulting in something unexpected. Nevertheless, Kafka will be determined to pass the exams and return for the third and final examination.

The anime is based on the manga of the same title by Naoya Matsumoto. It started serialization in July 2020. It has collected 12 tankobon volumes and sold over 13 million copies as of April 2024. Viz Media has licensed the manga in English. It’s then adapted into anime by Production I.G, premiering in April 2024 and releasing two episodes so far.
