The world is already hyped up about the second cour of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. After all, the next batch of episodes will adapt the manga's Shibuya Incident story arc which brings us back to the present day after we got to learn about Satoru Gojo's past. So it's no surprise that the first character designs that were dropped feature the anime's villains Suguru Geto, Mahito, and Choso.
The first cour of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 adapted the Gojo's Past story arc of Gege Akutami's manga, which was retitled Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc for the anime. As suggested by the original title, the episodes revisited an important event in Gojo's life when he was just a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High School and revealed how Suguru Geto ended up becoming a Curse User.
But now that we're back in the present day (or in the anime's case, 2018), Jujutsu Kaisen wants to remind fans about the people to watch out for in the second season. The anime's official X (formerly Twitter) account shared the new character designs for Geto and his companions Mahito and Choso. It's a simple teaser but it confirms that these three will play an important role in the Shibuya Incident arc.
Who Are Mahito and Choso in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2?
Mahito and Choso have already been introduced in the first season of the anime. In Season 1, Mahito was introduced as a mysterious character who befriends Junpei Yoshino and manipulates the boy to gain access to Yuji Itadori. He takes on Yuji and Kento Nanami repeatedly throughout the first season and ultimately infiltrates Tokyo Jujutsu High School to steal several cursed relics including Ryomen Sukuna's fingers.
Meanwhile, Choso was only introduced briefly in the anime while his brothers Eso and Kechizu took on (and were killed by) Yuji and Nobara Kugisaki. We have yet to see Choso in action and that's one thing to look forward to in the next episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 6 is titled It's Like That ("So iu Koto") and will serve as the first episode of the second cour. The anime returns on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
