The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen continues to impress viewers with its jaw-dropping action sequences and although the latest episode of the Shibuya Incident arc offered a LOT, the preview for Episode 17 teased something truly huge. Mahoraga is coming, and the shikigami is ready to take on Ryomen Sukuna!
In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 16, Jogo finally faced off against Sukuna, realizing too late that the King of Curses is too powerful for him to handle. This was the main event of the episode, which also featured the brief yet intense fight between Megumi Fushiguro and Toji Zenin. Although Fushiguro managed to survive the encounter, he was immediately attacked by Haruta Shigemo who made a huge mistake.
The episode concludes with Shigemo pleading with the unconscious Fushiguro to wake up as he is approached by a looming presence. This is none other than Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga, the powerful shikigami who also appears in the teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17.
This is an exciting tease for manga readers who are already looking forward to another epic showdown. But what can we expect about the new character?
Who is Mahoraga?
Mahoraga is the most powerful shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique passed down through generations of the Zenin clan. Throughout its entire history, no user of the Ten Shadows Technique has been able to tame it. Because of its volatility, Megumi Fushiguro chooses not to summon Mahoraga in fear that the shikigami will run amok.

But why has Fushiguro summoned Mahoraga in the first place? For now, the anime has chosen not to reveal too much about the sorcerer's desperate move. However, everything is set to be explained in the next episode, especially since Shigemo doesn't look like he knows how to handle Mahoraga.
The latest episode of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is titled Thunderclap ("Raimei") and served as the 11th episode of the Shibuya Incident arc. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 is titled Thunderclap, Part 2 ("Raimei -Ni-") and is set to premiere on November 16, 2023.
