Blue Beetle is the next big DC film that will be released this year and the superhero's live-action debut is already being questioned by fans who are concerned about who will be the part of the DC Universe. However, it looks like people shouldn't worry about Jaime Reyes. James Gunn has just confirmed that Blue Beetle is one of the many heroes who will continue on in the DCU and that could mean multiple sequels to the upcoming movie.

There is little doubt that people have great expectations when it comes to Blue Beetle. The upcoming DC flick which stars Cobra Kai actor Xolo Maridueña will introduce the franchise's first Latino lead and a mostly Latino cast. In fact, the expectations are so high that everyone is convinced that the film will get multiple sequels after its premiere.

So can we expect to see more of Jaime Reyes in the future? A fan reached out to James Gunn asking if Blue Beetle will be a part of the revamped DCU. The Suicide Squad director's response was certainly promising.

"Yes. Blue Beetle (played by the wonderful Xolo Maridueña) and a handful of other characters will continue on in the DCU, even though the first DC Studios movie is Superman: Legacy (the first DC Studios project is the animated TV show Creature Commandos)," Gunn wrote.

This is great news considering that the new trailer for Blue Beetle looks fantastic and there is little doubt that people will want to see more of Jaime Reyes in the future. Needless to say, we can't wait to see Blue Beetle in action next month.

Blue Beetle is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and will star Xolo Mariduena, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on August 18, 2023.
