Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is finally out on Disney+ but it looks like director James Gunn isn't happy about one thing in its streaming release. The filmmaker has pointed out an error about the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel on the part of the streamer.
The most recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's lineup was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Following its impressive box office performance, which amassed a global total of $845.4 million, the film was recently included in the Disney+ streaming library on August 2, 2023. As expected, the movie was presented in an IMAX aspect ratio but James Gunn revealed that his personal preference for enjoying the film at home is in its original widescreen format (via X).
This isn't exactly a huge surprise but one fan pointed out that the preview shot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's IMAX ratio didn't accurately show what the film looks like in that format. Gunn was quick to agree in a follow-up tweet.
"Yeah the IMAX version isn’t cropped. It’s all new stuff top and bottom," he wrote.
It's a minor yet interesting error but it's a good thing that Gunn pointed it out. Following his comment, Disney+ has rectified the preview images for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on their streaming platform. The thumbnail now accurately portrays the movie's IMAX ratio which proves that it's always important to speak out.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Linda Cardellini, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone. The film follows the Guardians as they go on a journey to protect Rocket Racoon from his villainous creator the High Evolutionary and discover new things about themselves. The third Guardians film is now available for streaming on Disney+.
