In life, we all just want to live it as our own. Throughout Loki, from Season 1 to 2, Sylvie is on her quest to being able to fully embrace her free will and get control of her own path without anyone dictating to her what to do. Loki introduced to the MCU the concept of variants and the truth about them is revealed as the series unveils but as for Sylvie, is she just another Loki?

The God of Mischief has been in a rollercoaster ride since his introduction in the MCU. From being Thor's beloved brother to a full-on villain to being the protagonist in his own titular series, Loki has his fair share of adventures where he can jump from being a hero to a villain, whichever is necessary for a situation. In Loki, he finally met his variants from Classic Loki to Kid Loki, and other versions of him from different universes, and this is all because every Loki posed a threat to the Sacred Timeline as deemed by He Who Remains.

The mere existence of a Loki variant was enough to get them pruned and sent to the Void. With Sylvie, other than being of a different sex, she stands out among the Loki variants that the Time Variance Authority had encountered. However, is she really a variant of the God of Mischief?

Played by Sophia Di Martino, Sylvie has always been a lone wolf because throughout her life, all she felt was rejection. She is known to the Time Variance Authority as a variant of Loki but she would always reject the idea of ever being called as such. For her, she is just "Sylvie." But just because she rejects the thought of being called as a Loki variant doesn't mean she isn't one. Sylvie is, indeed, a Loki variant as confirmed in Loki Season 1, with the same quirks as the God of Mischief but is her own person, too, which makes her quite different from the other variants.

The Multiverse Saga opens a ton of possibilities for the MCU and as explained through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, What If...?, and Loki, there is one Sacred Timeline where the characters from the MCU came from and different versions of themselves exist in other universes. Variants are those born in a different reality who lived a completely separate life to their other versions. However, they are totally unrelated to each other as they live their lives beyond the control of others.

Some variants introduced in the MCU are Captain Carter in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and What If...? who was injected with the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers, Wanda Maximoff from Earth-838 which was controlled by Wanda from Earth-616 in Doctor Strange 2, and the different versions of Loki in Loki Episode 5, including Sylvie.
