Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Sets Its Final Episode — and the Soul Society's Fate Hangs on an Unlikely Alliance

The last two episodes of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War are moving to late October so the staff can finish the climax.

The wait is nearly over. After a month-long production hiatus, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity is coming back to deliver its final two episodes — and with them, the end of the Bleach anime after more than two decades.

The revised schedule comes from the Thousand-Year Blood War production committee, which announced on September 12 via the official Bleach website that Episodes 49 and 50 would move to October. The committee said the delay was made to improve quality toward the climax and deliver the series in the best possible form through the final episode, apologizing to fans who had been waiting for the conclusion.

In Japan, Episode 49 airs on TV Tokyo on October 19, with Episode 50 — the series finale — following on October 26. VIZ Media confirmed the U.S. streaming schedule: both subtitled episodes arrive on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ the same days at 8:30 a.m. PT. English dub viewers wait a little longer, with Episode 49 dubbed on November 23 and the finale dubbed on November 30.

The hiatus left fans on one of the series' biggest cliffhangers. Episode 48, The End Two Worlds, threw Ichigo Kurosaki and Sosuke Aizen — longtime archenemies — into an uneasy joint fight against Yhwach. It is the kind of alliance no one saw coming when the original anime ended in 2012, and it sets up a final battle with the fate of the Soul Society at stake.

Series creator Tite Kubo has been keeping the excitement alive during the break. Following Episode 48, Kubo shared a striking new visual of Aizen on his official X account, a nod to the villain-turned-ally's scene-stealing role in the endgame. Kubo also posted a message wishing the production team well, writing that all he could do was wish everyone on the anime team the best and asking them to take care of themselves as they pushed toward the finish.

There is also a glimpse of what comes after the final sword swing. The production recently revealed the voice cast for Kazui Kurosaki and Ichika Abarai — the next generation — signaling that the finale will reach the manga's epilogue and its look toward the future.

The road here has been long. The original Bleach anime ran from 2004 to 2012 without adapting the manga's final arc, leaving fans waiting roughly a decade before Thousand-Year Blood War arrived in 2022. Its four-part run — The Separation, The Conflict, and now The Calamity — has expanded on Tite Kubo's manga with new scenes and material, with Kubo himself deeply involved in the production.

The celebration won't end with the finale, either. A major Bleach event, Bleach Fes., is scheduled for Japan next February, bringing the voice cast together to commemorate the anime's grand conclusion.
