Hero Without a Class Anime Welcomes Saori Hayami and Sumire Uesaka to Its Cast

The official website of the upcoming TV anime adaptation of Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! has revealed that two powerhouse voice actresses, Sumire Uesaka and Saori Hayami, will join its cast. The announcement, made today, confirms Uesaka as Lilia and Hayami as Laina, adding depth to an already promising fantasy series set to premiere later this year.

Sumire Uesaka, known for her dynamic performances as Nagatoro in Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro and Shalltear Bloodfallen in Overlord, will bring her signature energy to Lilia, a spirited figure with a knack for shaking things up. Saori Hayami, celebrated for her roles as Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer and Yor Forger in SPY x FAMILY, will lend her versatile voice to Laina, a character described as both enigmatic and fiercely loyal.

It was previously confirmed that the protagonist Allele will be voiced by Kenshō Ono, who has since captivated audiences with his versatile performances, including Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind and Tetsuo Shima in Akira. Known for his ability to convey both quiet intensity and dynamic emotion, he has become a staple in anime, video games, and dubbing. His role in the upcoming Hero Without a Class further cements his reputation as a leading talent in the industry.

Kaoru Yabana, known for directing episodes of The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord's Army was a Human and I've Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills, is helming the anime at Studio A-Cat. Chabo Higurashi, who worked on Memories Off 3.5 and AMAZING STRANGER, is overseeing and writing the scripts. Hiroto Morishita serves as the sound director, with Kento Asahina composing the music.

What is Hero Without a Class about?

Hero Without a Class anime is based on the Fantasy manga of the same title (Japanese: Mushoku no Eiyū: Betsu ni Sukiru Nanka Iranakattan da ga) written by Shichio Kuzu and illustrated by Yumehito Ueda.
The series was originally published online on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from November 2017 to May 2020. Earth Star Entertainment later acquired it, releasing four volumes since July 2018 under their Earth Star Novel imprint.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Akio Nanae, began serialization on Earth Star Entertainment's Comic Earth Star website in November 2018 and has been compiled into eight tankōbon volumes. One Peace Books, the publisher of the official English version of Hero Without a Class, shared a story description for the series:

In a world where everyone receives a Class and Skills at the age of ten, and where such revelations have a huge impact on one's life, Arel, the son of Sword Princess Farah and Archmage Leon, learns that he has… no class at all!
