Netflix has revealed new stills for Gyeongseong Creature ahead of its premiere this month. The South Korean series will be split into two parts, with the first seven episodes premiering a few weeks from now, and the final three episodes in early January 2024.
Set in the dark times of Spring 1945, Gyeongseong Creature follows the story of an entrepreneur and a sleuth who must face a monster born out of human greed and fight for survival. The series stars Park Seo-joon who plays Jang Tae-sang, the wealthiest man in Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul) and the owner of the pawnshop Golden Jade House who has sharp insight and has access to all the information he needs. While searching for Ishikawa's mistress who has gone missing, he crosses paths with with Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) and her father Yoon Joong Won (Jo Han-chul).

Yoon Chae-ok is searching for missing people, and according to rumors, she's able to find those who have died. While trying to find clues on her missing mother, she heads to Gyeongseong and makes a deal with Jang Tae-sang. Chae-ok, Tae-sang, and Joong-won infiltrate Ongseong Hospital, which is suspected as the last whereabouts of those who vanished, and they struggle to survive as they discover the secrets of the dark place tainted by greed of those who are more monstrous than monsters.
In a report by Naver (via Soompi), director Jung Dong-yoon said, “Our setting of Spring 1945 creates the question of which side each character should take.”
Writer Kang Eun-kyung added: “Like [the question], ‘Is survival first or is being humane first?’ the difference between good and evil also changes depending on which side they choose to stand.”
Park Seo-joon talked about the show's thrilling script: “It’s the perfect script,” while Han So Hee remarked, “It’s a script that makes [viewers] curious about the start of the story,” raising anticipation for the upcoming drama.
