Following the confirmation of the first GTA 6 trailer earlier today, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the success of Rockstar Games' titles over the past three months during the publisher's Q2 2024 quarterly earnings presentation. Strauss also provided an update for the next Grand Theft Auto game. We'll go over all of his statements about GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and GTA 6 in this article.

According to Take-Two Interactive, Grand Theft Auto V sold over 190 million copies, an increase from over 185 million in August. GTA V normally sells an average of 5 million every month, and the total sales of the Grand Theft Auto series is now at over 410 million copies copies worldwide, an increase of 5 million from 3 months ago.
The publisher also said that there was “better-than-expected results from Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.” Take-Two expect the growth for GTA+, Shark Cards, and GTA Online to be flat going forward, and this is likely due to the next GTA game being revealed.
During the earnings call, Zelnick said that GTA V/GTA Online is an “outstanding achievement” as it exceeded expectations this quarter. The game had continued momentum from the San Andreas Mercenaries drip-feed, and due to this drip-feed selection of content, it had sustained engagement.
GTA+ growth has also exceeded expectations, according to Take-Two.
As for Grand Theft Auto 6, Take-Two reiterated that "Active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway”. Strauss assured that GTA 6 is “completely protected” from any SAG-AFTRA strike for performance/voice actors.

The Red Dead series has now sold over 81 million copies, an increase from 79 million last time. Zelnick said they are "very pleased" with Red Dead 2.
Expect more updates for GTA 6 in the upcoming weeks as we get closer to the premiere of its first teaser trailer, which Rockstar confirmed to drop in early December 2023. Take-Two is "as excited as anyone else" for the upcoming GTA 6 trailer.
