For a long time now, leakers have been trying to get some information regarding the upcoming highly-anticipated GTA 6 game. One such reputable leaker recently divulged information on how long Grand Theft Auto 6 has been in development, and we’re shocked.
According to the leak, the game has been developing for almost a decade now! This insight regarding Rockstar Games’ previous and current projects was released sometime after Take-Two’s financial reports indicated a possible GTA 6 release window.
Over the past few years, Rockstar Games has been taking quite a long time to develop their games. However, when it comes to Grand Theft Auto, the company is never one to take chances or make its fans wait. This is why GTA 5 went under development in 2008, around ten years after the fourth entry in the Grand Theft Auto series was released. In the same way, GTA 4’s pre-production kicked off in November 2004, sometime around the time of GTA: San Andreas’ release.
According to a LinkedIn profile of a former Rockstar Research Video Editor, Jon Young, GTA 6 has been following the same pattern. This profile was shared by a Reddit user named KekanKok, in which Young shared that he developed the Grand Theft Auto 6 game over a three-year period that ended in 2018 when his 13-year working period was up. This little piece of information indicates that GTA 6 began developing in 2015 when Rockstar Games released their eagerly-awaited GTA 5 PC port.
However, when it comes to GTA 6, this newly revealed information somewhat indicates that the game has been under development for nearly twice as long as Grand Theft Auto 5. According to Take-Two’s recently revealed financial reports, the wait for the highly-anticipated GTA 6 might be coming to an end, as the parent company hinted at a 2024 release window. Hopefully, Rockstar Games does end up releasing the game soon, or its trailer, at least.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development.
